Updated: Apr 5, 2019

Andrijana Stojković holds an MA in Film and TV Directing. As the assistant professor, she teaches Documentary Filmmaking at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. Her films were screened and awarded at festivals like Rotterdam FF, Fid-Marseille, Raindance FF, Sofia IFF, Havana IFF, etc.

1. Introduce yourself please briefly and your project.

I am a film director who makes both documentaries and fiction films. I don’t see one of them superior to the other. I think they both have marvelous ups and deep, deep downs. Whenever I have an idea for a film, I think about which form would be more fitting. In ONE MORE TIME I decided to combine them because I needed real people and their experience but I also needed to use some methods that are usually perceived as fiction. I don’t agree fully.

2. What drew you to making One More Time?

ONE MORE TIME explores the dark side of being a human. Its characters are murderers. Through them I expect to learn more about all of us.

3. What was the biggest challenge in making this film?

Because of its delicate theme, the biggest challenge is to persuade people convicted of murder to participate in the film.

4. Can you compare your experience at CIRCLE with other similar platforms that you have been part of?

What I like about CIRCLE is the freedom: you can take what you need, you can be surprised with what it offers and you can propose unusual approaches. I find it liberating not to talk primarily about the financing and distribution but about the creative process.

5. What were the most important benefits from being part of CIRCLE project?

Empowerment that came from other participants but also tutors and experts. Working in a predominately female environment was also very refreshing. Less competitive and more pleasant.

6. What advice do you have for other (female) directors?

The heart doesn’t have a gender.

7. Name your favorite woman-directed film and why.

“An Angel at My Table” directed by Jane Campion. This film is a very fine search for the delicate parts of female life.
